Annual National Night Out

The City of Prairie View, Texas is proud to announce that this year it will be participating in National Night Out.  All citizens are encouraged to participate by hosting a NNO party designed to promote neighborhood alliances that strengthen our communities and preserve the quality of life in our city.

National Night Out is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
  • Generate support and participation in crime efforts
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community relations
  • Let criminals know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back

During the event, residents in neighborhoods throughout Prairie View and across the nation are asked to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors and spend the evening outside with their neighbors, police officers, firefighters and EMS paramedics.  Events and activities including, but not limited to, block parties, cookouts, parades, visits from emergency personnel, neighborhood walks, exhibits, youth events, safety demonstrations and seminars will all occur simultaneously throughout the city and nationwide.

If you can’t host an event, plan to find one in your area and attend it.  Through NNO, we can strengthen our communities by helping educate our families, friends, and neighbors on crime prevention and the benefit of getting to know the people who live around you. This is a great opportunity for you to get together and have all residents meet each other—all in the name of preventing crime!
