City of Prairie View Shares "Farmers to Families" Food Boxes

FtF
Thursday and Friday, July 15 - 16, 2020, at the Waller County Community Center in Prairie View,  helpful relief and a distraction from current pandemic times came in the form of food boxes for families.

City of Prairie View Mayor David Allen, working collaboratively with Prairie View A. & M. University, the university's College of Agriculture, and Mr. Horace Hodge (USDA), residents received 1,536 boxes of fruit and vegetables Thursday, and 3,400 boxes of chicken Friday.

Vehicles were lined east  on Owens Road, from the Waller County Community Center (WCCC), for approximately 3 miles.  The line remained orderly and moved quickly thanks to the assistance of Prairie View City Police, University Police, City Council Members Wendy Williams and Kendric Jones, City Secretary, Allison Bynum, City Utilities Supervisor, Amanda Hudspeth City Utility Department personnel, USW Utility Group, Kathryn Reed, and Johnnie Walker who delivered boxes to home-bound residents, the Kappa Alpha Psi Alumni Fraternity Chapter, and community volunteers. Also volunteering was a representative from the 2020 Census reminding all about the importance of registering and being counted.

"Thank you" also to Waller County Commissioners, and Waller County Fire Marshal Brian Cantrell for allowing the use of the WCCC for this much-needed and very appreciated community event.
